Hancock County Training Calendar

HAZMAT Ops Level Training:

If you are a Hancock County 1st responder and your department would like to sponsor an Ops level training, the EMA office and LEPC will be glad to process your request for this training. Our requirements are that you have a minimum of ten participate for the training. We anticipate having a Ops level training team in Hancock County in a relatively short time, which should aid in training dates that will accommodate most everyone’s needs, rather than having to contract with an outside vendor. Please let us know what your training needs may be.

ICS-100 and FEMA IS-700 Training:

If you are interested in attending ICS-100 and/or FEMA IS-700 training, please contact our office. We are hoping, should we have enough interest, to be able to schedule training on Mount Desert Island in July 2006. Please contact our office if you are interested in attending one or both of these courses.

If your organization is sponsoring a training seminar that you wish to extend to other emergency responders in the Hancock County area, we would be glad to include your information on our training page.

Maine Emergency Management State Level Training:

You may qualify to attend a Maine Emergency Management course. To get the latest course offerings and to obtain an application, visit MEMA’s website or the Hancock County EMA office at 50 State St., Ellsworth 04605.

Home Study Course offerings

FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Independent Study (IS) Program allows access to materials on this Internet site to anyone who can access them, but official enrollment in the courses and scoring of final exams is limited to United States citizens. Many of the self-study course materials can also be provided in print by the Hancock County EMA.

The EMI Independent Study program consists of courses designed for both the general public and people who have emergency management responsibilities.

Each Independent Study Course includes lessons with practice exercises and a final examination. On completion of the material and test, Hancock County residents may contact the office and we will submit your test to FEMA for grading. If you attain a passing score (75 percent or better) EMI will issue you a certificate of completion for the course. Visit FEMA’s website for a list of available courses.
